Interpretation Center for Renewable Energy and Leisure Area

Introduction:

The Natural Energy Bengola project is situated in the foothills of Mount Oiz, near the beginning of Lea Ibilbidea in Munitibar, specifically in the historic centre of Gerrikaitz.

There is no place more appropriate for an interpretation centre on renewable energy and a leisure area, as it hosts the following potentialities:

• - Oiz wind farm (in the municipality of Munitibar); at sight and 5km from Bengola.
• - The River Lea crosses the area. It is a river model in terms of conservation, and the constant running of its abundant water makes it suitable for being used in hydraulic engineering.
• - Lea Ibilbidea. The most important leisure infrastructure of the region runs through the area.
• - The mountainside overlooking the south. Although it is not a very sunny spot, it reflects a broad area of Euskadi and the possibilities it offers to be exploited.
• - Being located in a rural setting, one can combine the educational and leisure proposals with the farm activities, in decline today. Thus, the latter activity may be boosted.
