Aulesti - Population

688 people live in Aulesti, the 34,8% of the total population of the valley.

During the 70s and the 80s, Aulesti´s population decreased considerably, as unemployment forced people to go to the industrialised towns around the area, where there was a wider offer. In the last few years, though, the population has remained stable.

Previous to that, the inhabitants used to emigrate to Australia or America. In 1966, there were 50 shepherds from Aulesti in the United States.
